Australia States list

Hi

I am a newbie in Belsta, and I am living down under in Australia.

There are some problems when we are using Blesta with our clients.

There is no states/territories for Australia in the states list. That's ok, I understand that we cannot have every countries lists in there. So I go into the database, find the states table, and add it in myself.

Next, the states table only allow abbreviation of 2 characters, but we Aussies have abbreviations either of 2 characters or 3 characters, but that's ok too. I just change the field length for the abbreviation to 3 characters.

After doing all that, my state "New South Wales" shows up happily in the states list. However, when I choose that, the client's address is still shortened to be 2 characters. I understand that too, probably because the program is expecting only 2 characters abbreviation, therefore it shows only "NS" instead of the "NSW" that I hoped.

Then when I try to get into the customer's detail again, I found that "Nova Scotia" got the same 2 characters abbreviation of "NS", therefore my states choice get to "Nova Scotia". That made it a bit difficult for us Aussies to use the product for our customers.

The way I see that can be workaround would be to delete all non-Australia states, and leave only Australia states in the table, but that still have the problem of 2 characters abbreviation.

Alternatively, we can completely forgot about "states" and just not choose any. Unfortunately that looks a bit unprofessional to our customers.

Finally, hopefully, may I respectfully request a minor change in the address coding to instead of limit it to 2 characters abbreviation, use a trim function to just trim all trailing spaces, so that we can use a properly formatted address here.

I understand that you guys are really busy with version 3, but I would be really grateful if you can fix this minor issue.

On another note, at the moment, there is no modules for any Australia registrar for version 2. Are there any planned for version 3 of Blesta?

Thank you for your attention.

Invoice and Proforma invoice

Hello ,

blesta generates invoices before the service was paid . this is a elligal or maybe a serios probleme in some countries , as i know (europe , africa , and ME ... )

invoice = final paper for legal invoice (normally this should be isseud after the service/product will be paid totally by the client )
proforma invoice = this is the proforma invoice before the final invoice , after the service/product will be paid , the company generate invoice for clients .

if the invoice was generated , the client can use it in thier statement movement of his company even if is not paid !!! also he can ask us to give him the service legally as he has invoice for the service .

so i don't know if is the same in USA . but this has take my attention after some isseu with so many clients , they use our generated invoices in blesta system , the governement ask us to pay the TAX ammount for this invoices even if is not PAID by the clients , also others ask us to get thier services as they have a final invoice !!! and if is not paid it should be proforma and not final invoice .

I know that blesta not generate invoice for new orders (via order form) ; but generate invoice for renewal services .

the normal step are :

client make order / service renewed -> generate proforma invoice -> the client pay the ammount -> invoice will be isseud to the client .

what blesta do :

service renewed -> generate invoice -> the client pay the ammount or not pay the ammount -> invoice already generated in the system !!!

i have resolved this probleme by changing the language file / and add some code the pdf class generator . the same as i have posted already for the paid stamp (if the ammount was totally paid then it show invoice , if not it show proforma invocie )

this thread is just for discussion after we will see if we should add feuture request about this .

best regards
