What’s new in 2.5?

Two-Factor Authentication: Mobile OTP and TOTP support for admin accounts has been added. We built this for version 3, but just had to back port it for 2.5. Read more about this on our blog.

Register Client Order Form: An order template for registering clients has been added. We received a lot of requests for this, and it is now available.

Revised Payment Page: The client payment page has been changed to be more intuitive. Clients can now enter their credit card information on the payment page, instead of adding it to a billing contact first.

New Modules: SolusVM Xen and OpenVZ modules have been added, as well as support for the SagePayments payment gateway.

Update on 3.0

We’ve been directing much of our time towards the development of 3.0 and it’s coming along quite nicely. We are releasing articles on 3.0 periodically in the Developer Corner, so be sure to check it out. There’s a lot more to come.

Last time we mentioned that 3.0 is being built on the open source MVC framework we wrote, minPHP. This framework is now available to download and use, and is released under the MIT license. If you’re a developer and you have some experience with minPHP, you’ll be a rock star when it comes to customizing or extending 3.0.

What’s new in 2.4?

POP3 Tickets: Blesta now supports POP3 tickets. Setting up email piping varies from system to system and is not as easy to configure. With POP3 you just plug in the mailbox information, and set up a new cron and Blesta checks that mailbox for new tickets.

New PDF Engine: We’ve added TCPDF, which supports UTF-8 characters. If upgrading you’ll need to select it in settings, but all new installs will automatically use TCPDF and ezPDF will be removed in the next major (version 3) release.

Tax Setup Fees: Setup fees can now be optionally taxed.

The Future

We’re hard at work on our next major release, Blesta 3.0. We can’t tell you too much yet, only that it is being built on our new MVC framework, minPHP. Stay tuned in the coming months for more information. If you’re a customer, you’ll receive a beta invitation when we’re ready to roll, early next year. Also – minPHP will be released as open source software soon, so if you’re a developer, you can get a head start on this new framework.

Patch 2.3.2 fixes an issue with email piping, which prevented tickets from being created. It also fixes an issue with incompatibility with PHP 5.0. You can download this patch at www.blesta.com/download/ under Patches. This patch contains all previous patches for 2.3.x.

PHP 5.3 Support: Blesta now supports PHP 5.3 with both SourceGuardian and ionCube loaders.

Setup Fees: Setup fees can now be configured at the package level, and will be levied on order forms.

Client Merge: Client accounts can now be merged. Useful for clients that have multiple accounts, but only need one.

Custom Fields on Order Forms: Custom fields can now optionally appear on order forms.

Notes on Invoices: Blesta has always supported private notes, but now you can add notes that appear on invoices for the customer to view.

Cascading Taxes: This one is mainly for our Canadian friends, and others who need the ability to charge tax on an item and then apply an additional tax on top of that.

Admin Email Reply to Tickets: Admins now have the ability to reply to and update tickets via email.

Extended Module System: The module system has been extended to add managing capabilities for modules that support this. This means that the interaction between Blesta and modules has been extended beyond the standard provision, cancel, suspend, and unsuspend abilities. We will be extending existing modules in the future, but our newly released VPS.net module showcases some of the new capabilities of this change. Restarting VPS’s, viewing graphs, and more are now available through this module. This really opens things up for the future of module development and you can expect a lot more to come soon.

Patch 2.2.2 primarily addresses an issue with gateways that can prevent payments from being properly processed or applied to an invoice, leaving the invoice open.
